More cases are being reported in the local schools....if your child has a cough, fever & body aches then you may want to visit your pediatrician.
Tamiflu in the first 12-48 hours makes a big difference. The flu also can trigger many secondary infections so keep an eye out for fever that is more than 104, ear aches, white patches on the throat or a persistent cough. Some of the more common secondary infections with the flu are:
Ear infection
Strep
Pneumonia
Asthma
*If your child has a fever please keep them home from school until they are fever free for 24 hours. The recent flare up of H1N1 according to doctors is milder than the cases in the spring & are last 3-5 days.
If you don't have the flu then wash common shared areas frequently such as:
Light Fixtures
Counter Tops
Sinks & Faucets
Door Knobs & Door Jambs
You can also take cotton swabs with alcohol & wipe down keyboards, phones & hand held electronics.
Gargling with salt water, saline nasal spray (or a netti pot) & frequent hand washing can help keep you healthy!
